The 7.5x54mm French cartridge, also known as the 7.5mm French MAS or simply 7.5mm French, is a centerfire rifle cartridge that was used by the French military from the 1920s until the 1960s. The cartridge was originally designed for the French Mle 1924/29 bolt-action rifle, which was later replaced by the MAS-36 rifle.

The cartridge has a bullet diameter of 7.5mm (.308 inches) and a case length of 54mm (2.126 inches). It fires a relatively heavy 139-grain (9.0 g) spitzer bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 2,480 feet per second (760 meters per second).

The 7.5mm French cartridge has a rimless bottlenecked case with a sharp shoulder angle of 30 degrees. It uses smokeless powder and has a maximum pressure of around 50,000 PSI. The cartridge has a reputation for being accurate and effective at ranges of up to 600 meters.

The 7.5mm French cartridge saw extensive use during World War II, particularly in the early years of the war. It was used in a variety of roles, including as a standard infantry rifle cartridge, as well as in machine guns, light anti-tank guns, and sniper rifles. Today, the cartridge is primarily of historical interest to collectors and enthusiasts.
